League of Legends becomes a medal event at the 2026 CAC Games
The Central American and Caribbean Games adds LoL alongside athletics and swimming. The IOC pathway is closer than skeptics admit.
League of Legends is officially a medal event at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, alongside athletics and swimming. Six nations have submitted rosters; the medal event runs in October on the same broadcast tier as track and field finals.
This is the cleanest signal yet that the IOC pathway is closer than skeptics admit. CAC Games is a recognized regional multi-sport event under the Pan American Sports Organization. Riot is doing the work — voluntary anti-doping protocols, recognized international federation through the Global Esports Federation, and a competition-rule package built specifically for sovereign-team formats. That is the work the IOC was asking for.
